In case you have been living under a rock, Charlie Sheen opened a verified Twitter account a few days ago and already has well over a million followers. I’ve been watching this go on and it’s really amazing. People were singing to the gods that Charlie had decided to share his personal life with them. He became an Internet Meme. People retweet him like they themselves will get money for doing so.
Here is what he told TMZ to come clean to the people who still can’t figure this shit out:
Charlie Sheen told TMZ … the reason he’s taken up Twitter is simple — it’s a “cash cow.”
Sheen told us … his primary motivation behind the new ramblings is that he can score a fortune through advertising. To give this some context, Kim Kardashian is reportedly pulling in $10,000 per tweet.
And then people find out that you can make money on that there Twitter thing and are literally shocked that he would do such a thing. Look, that idiot Kim Kardashian makes over $10,000 per tweet in some cases. Charlie isn’t stupid and I for one, don’t blame him. It’s easy, passive income. It’s especially easy for someone like Charlie who can’t stay out of the headlines, off the TV or off the blogs for more than 30 seconds. He’s the hottest thing going and it’s time to cash in.
I’m sure this comes as a great disappointment to people since, if Charlie has proven anything over the last several months, it’s that he’s someone to be trusted and has everyone else’s best interests in mind. But he’s going to get paid. And he’s going to get paid more than most people make in a year in a matter of a couple tweets. Don’t like it? Don’t follow.
To all the people who thought this was legit, you’re all marks and will help him earn his cash. Congrats. Yes advertising makes the world go round and this is especially true online.
